The celebration of Gudi Padwa, also known as the Marathi New Year, is currently underway with immense enthusiasm among the public, including celebrities.

Actress Madhuri Dixit took to her Instagram story to share a picture of her adorned Gudi and extend her heartfelt wishes to everyone celebrating Gudi Padwa. The festival, popularly known as Samvatsara Padvo in Maharashtra, marks the beginning of the new year. According to Hindu mythology, Gudi Padwa derives its name from “Gudi,” symbolizing Lord Brahma’s flag, and “Padwa,” representing the first phase of the moon.

Reflecting on her memories of celebrating the festival, Madhuri Dixit reminisced during one of her earlier interviews about her family’s Gudi Padwa traditions. She fondly recalled selecting bamboo with her cousins to adorn the Gudi with flowers and sugar-made edible necklaces. Madhuri shared how they would then hoist the Gudi outside their home and perform worship rituals.

As the day progressed, Madhuri’s family would lower the Gudi at sunset but continue the celebrations. She remembered creating rangoli designs to place the Gudi and her grandmother’s tradition of preparing Neem leaves with cumin seeds, which despite the bitterness, she willingly consumed.

Transitioning to her professional endeavors, Madhuri Dixit was last seen in the 2022 film “Maja Ma” and appeared in the OTT show “The Fame Game” the same year on Netflix, portraying the character of Anamika Anand, a secretive Bollywood star. Discussing her upcoming projects in January this year, she expressed her plans for movies in 2024 and the commencement of her reality show “Dance Deewane,” hinting at potential series projects as well.
