Manisha Koirala is being praised for her recent work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, despite mixed reviews for “Heeramandi,” cinephiles are commending her performance.

During an interview with Filmygyan, Manisha shared how Rekha admired her acting skills in the OTT series, expressing her emotional reaction to the veteran actor’s praise.

Rekha expressed her love for Manisha and applauded her portrayal in “Heeramandi,” stating that her prayers for Manisha to excel in the role had been answered. Manisha was deeply moved by Rekha’s words, describing the experience as receiving a blessing from an artist of Rekha’s stature.

Manisha showered praise on Rekha, calling her a goddess and highlighting her grace, poetry, and artistic prowess. She also mentioned cinematographer Ashok Mehta’s high regard for Rekha, stating that no other actor could compare to her.

In “Heeramandi,” Manisha portrays the character Mallikajaan, a courtesan from the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore, during the pre-partition period of British India in the 1920s-1940s. The series delves into the power struggles between Mallikajaan and British officers amidst the backdrop of the Indian independence movement. The cast includes Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sharmin Segal, Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman, and Fardeen Khan in pivotal roles.
