Amrita Singh embarked on her journey to stardom with her debut alongside Sunny Deol in the 1983 film Betaab. However, she took a hiatus from acting after marrying Saif Ali Khan in 1991, only to make a comeback post their 2004 divorce.

In a previous interview, Amrita revealed that her return to work was driven by the need for financial independence for her children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, and to avoid appearing as the “loser parent” in their eyes.

Discussing her preparations for reentering the film industry in an interview with Zoom, Amrita highlighted the physical and mental aspects she had to address. She worked on her appearance, shedding about 15 kg, and focused on her mental well-being to overcome challenges swiftly, not wanting her children to perceive her as defeated.

Amrita candidly shared Saif’s desire for her to maintain her appearance during their marriage, asserting her independence in deciding for herself. She admitted to becoming “complacent” during those years.

Regarding her children’s response to her absence due to work, she acknowledged their initial sense of freedom followed by the realization of her prolonged absence. Amrita expressed regret over not being able to spend enough time with her young children, particularly Ibrahim, who was just four years old at the time.

On the topic of remarriage, Amrita expressed pragmatism about her age and the uncertainty of the future.

Post her divorce, Amrita returned to the silver screen with Mohit Suri’s Kalyug and went on to feature in several films like Shootout at Lokhandwala, Dus Kahaniyaan, Aurangzeb, 2 States, A Flying Jatt, Hindi Medium, and Badla. Her latest appearance was in Tiger Shroff‘s Heropanti 2.
