Actor Shekhar Suman is set to feature in Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s upcoming project, “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazar.”

Reflecting on his journey, Shekhar shared insights into his early days in the industry, recalling his first film with Rekha. He highlighted the significant changes in filmmaking practices, emphasizing the increased organization on modern film sets compared to the past when scenes were often improvised on the spot.

Speaking to Bollywood Now, Shekhar acknowledged the heightened discipline prevalent on contemporary sets, yet he also pointed out some drawbacks of the present era. He noted the desire for instant fame among young actors and the consequent pressure to maintain visibility on social media platforms.

Regarding his debut film “Utsav,” Shekhar expressed gratitude towards Rekha for choosing to work with him despite being a prominent star at the time. He credited Shashi Kapoor and Girish Karnad for his entry into the industry.

Shekhar’s son, Adhyayan Suman, is also part of “Heeramandi.” Discussing the experience of sharing the screen with his son, Shekhar emphasized the professional competition that arises on set, regardless of their familial relationship.
