Released by the creators, the song video showcases Sonakshi Sinha’s character, Fareedan, captivating the attention of men at parties. The video, lasting two minutes and eight seconds, is set against the backdrop of India’s struggle for independence. “Tilasmi Bahein,” composed by Bhansali, is performed by Sharmistha Chatterjee and features lyrics by AM Turaz.
In the video, Fareeden, adorned in a shimmering peach sari adorned with silver sequins, embodies a free spirit, holding a cigarette in one hand and a glass of wine in the other. Embracing two men, she begins to sing the song, which delves into themes of profound love, desire, and yearning.
“Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” Bhansali’s debut on the OTT platform, narrates the tales of love and betrayal experienced by courtesans residing in Lahore’s historic red-light district, Heeramandi. The series delves into how these women navigate a world embroiled in a perpetual power struggle amid the backdrop of rising anti-colonial movements.
