Samantha Ruth Prabhu graced the Elle Sustainability Awards on Thursday, drawing attention with her monochrome beaded bodice gown, which held a special significance.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed that Samantha wore her white wedding gown, originally crafted for her fairy-tale wedding to Naga Chaitanya in 2017, to the award show. The gown, designed by Kresha Bajaj, underwent a transformation as it was hand-sewn with floral and crystal detailing in 2016, then dyed black and altered in silhouette for the event.

Despite suggestions that the gown was repurposed, Samantha emphasized the importance of sustainability, expressing her commitment to altering her habits and lifestyle to be more environmentally conscious. She urged herself and others to make small efforts towards sustainability, acknowledging the significance of each gesture.

Samantha and Naga Chaitanya exchanged vows on October 6, 2017, in a grand three-day wedding ceremony in Goa, featuring both Christian and Hindu rituals. However, the couple announced their separation on Instagram a few days before their anniversary in 2021.

Reflecting on her marriage and subsequent divorce, Samantha opened up to Harper’s Bazaar about facing challenges in her personal and professional life. Despite enduring difficult times, Samantha remains resilient and is now gearing up for her upcoming project, the web series ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny,’ where she stars alongside Varun Dhawan.
