Mumtaz acknowledged the depth of his affection, saying she never forgot him and still becomes emotional when his name is mentioned. She emphasized that their relationship was more profound than a mere love affair, but societal expectations and family traditions prevented them from being together.

Reflecting on her choice to prioritize her career over their relationship, Mumtaz explained that she had financial responsibilities and was earning a significant amount as an actress. She recalled that she always aspired for the best in life, even dreaming of marrying royalty as a child.

Previously, Mumtaz had shared with Pinkvilla that she was only 17 at the time and felt it was too early for marriage. She expressed her desire to achieve more in her career. In another interview with ETimes, she mentioned that despite Shammi Kapoor’s affection, many found it hard to believe she declined his marriage proposal due to his high status.

Shammi Kapoor, in a video shared by Lehren Retro, discussed his feelings for Mumtaz, describing their brief time together as a dream that eventually turned into a difficult situation. He expressed contentment with his current life.

Before his relationship with Mumtaz, Shammi Kapoor had lost his first wife, Geeta Bali, and was raising their children, Aditya and Kanchan, as a single parent. Mumtaz went on to have a successful acting career spanning nearly three decades.
