On October 12, veteran politician and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique passed away after being shot multiple times by assailants.
This tragic incident occurred near the office of his son, MLA Zeeshan, in Bandra. Baba was a respected figure in politics and was also famous for hosting extravagant annual Iftar parties that attracted major celebrities from Hindi cinema. Notably, he is remembered in Bollywood history as a peacemaker who resolved one of the most significant feuds between Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.
The conflict between the two superstars stemmed from an infamous altercation at Katrina Kaif’s birthday party in 2008, during her relationship with Salman. Reports indicate that the disagreement escalated and nearly became physical, but SRK’s wife, Gauri Khan, intervened, leading them to leave the gathering. For five years, Salman and Shah Rukh maintained a tense relationship. However, they reconciled at Baba’s Iftar party in 2013, where Baba seated Shah Rukh next to Salim Khan, Salman’s father.
Videos and images from this moment quickly went viral, captivating the internet. In the footage, Salman and Shah Rukh embraced, signaling the end of their feud, before posing with Baba, who facilitated their reconciliation. This moment became iconic in Indian cinema, thanks to Baba’s role. Following the Iftar gathering, SRK and Salman resumed their friendship, leading to numerous collaborations, including Shah Rukh promoting his film on Salman’s show, Bigg Boss, and Salman’s cameo in SRK’s film Zero (2018). In 2023, they surprised fans by appearing in each other’s films, Pathaan and Tiger 3.
Although Baba Siddique is no longer with us, his legacy will endure in our hearts and memories through his positive contributions. May he rest in peace.
