The Paris 2024 Olympics are fast approaching, and many well-known personalities are anticipated to attend the summer event this year.
The Games will commence on Friday, July 26, with an unprecedented opening ceremony. Over 10,000 athletes from across the globe will participate in a parade on the River Seine featuring a reported appearance by Céline Dion and Lady Gaga. With such major pop stars expected, speculation about which other celebrities will attend the games is rising, particularly regarding Taylor Swift.
Taylor Swift, known for her hit “Anti-Hero,” recently began the European segment of her Eras Tour at the La Défense Arena in Paris, a venue that will host several Olympic events. Although Swift has performed at sold-out shows in Ireland, the Netherlands, and the UK since then, there are still gaps in her tour schedule.
The 14-time Grammy winner is not set to perform on the day of the opening ceremony or during the closing ceremony on August 11. She has a three-day break between her Hamburg concert on July 24 and her performances in Munich on July 27-28. Following that, she will perform in Warsaw from August 1-3 before continuing her tour in Vienna and then London.
Swift has a history of making brief trips between tour dates. For instance, she attended the 2024 Super Bowl in Las Vegas to see her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, play, despite having performed in Tokyo the night before. Given this, it’s feasible that she could make the short flight from Germany to France.
Though Swift has not yet confirmed her attendance at the Olympics, she has shown support for Team USA in the past. Recently, she posted a selfie with the Prince of Wales, his children, and Kelce, who was wearing a Team USA Olympic hat.
Swift also has a close relationship with Simone Biles, a seven-time Olympic medalist who will return to the Olympics as part of the USA women’s gymnastics team. During the 2024 US Olympic Gymnastic Trials, Biles performed to Swift’s song, “…Ready For It?”
Swift responded in June by sharing a video of Biles’ routine on X (formerly Twitter), expressing her admiration. She had previously supported Biles in 2021 with a heartfelt video tribute when Biles withdrew from the Tokyo Olympics due to mental health concerns.
Biles replied emotionally to Swift’s tribute, and Swift acknowledged Biles’ impact, appreciating her resilience and emotional strength.
In addition to Biles, the US women’s water polo team also admires Swift. Gold medalist Maggie Steffens and her teammates attended one of Swift’s Eras Tour concerts in Paris last May, where the water polo events will be held.
Steffens mentioned that attending the concert inspired the team to embrace the pressure and joy of performing. Swift even gifted Eras Tour tickets to the team after their manager reached out to her representatives. Steffens described the experience as magical, reflecting the powerful impression Swift made on them.
