Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal got married earlier this year, choosing to have a private ceremony with a reception, bypassing other traditional pre-wedding events.

In India, weddings typically span multiple days, but Sonakshi recently explained why she opted for a simpler celebration. She mentioned that after attending her brother Kussh’s grand wedding, she told her mother Poonam that she would not follow that elaborate style for her own wedding.

During a conversation with Galatta India, Sonakshi addressed whether there was any pressure to have a large-scale Indian wedding. She acknowledged the pressure but emphasized their clear vision for a simpler event. Reflecting on her brother Kussh’s wedding, which hosted thousands of guests, she had expressed to her mother that she preferred a different approach. Kussh married Taruna Agarwal in 2015.

Sonakshi continued by saying that they were adamant about their choice for the wedding’s simplicity. She described the occasion as uniquely special and emphasized their desire to celebrate it on their terms, which their friends and family respected. However, she noted that some friends, like Huma and her stylist Mohit, were disappointed by the limited number of events and outfit changes.

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal had a registered marriage at home and held a reception later that evening, which saw numerous celebrity guests. Zaheer mentioned there was no external pressure but that expectations were for a more elaborate series of events.

The couple had been together for seven years before tying the knot. While her brother Kussh attended the reception, her other brother Luv was absent from the celebrations.
