Akshay Kumar and Radhikka Madan’s film “Sarfira,” a remake of Suriya’s critically acclaimed Tamil movie “Soorarai Pottru,” may not have set the box office on fire but has garnered praise from audiences and the film industry alike.

Suriya, the original film’s star, took to social media to express his appreciation for “Sarfira,” calling it an important film and thanking Akshay Kumar for selecting it as his 150th project. He attended a special screening with his wife Jyothika, showing his support.

In an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, Radhikka shared Suriya’s reaction to the film, directed by Sudha Kongara, who also helmed the original. She described Suriya as kind and reserved, recounting his praise for her performance and the film’s quality. Radhikka admitted feeling nervous during the screening, avoiding looking at Suriya directly but was relieved when he complimented her.

Radhikka portrayed the character originally played by Aparna Balamurali, who won Best Actress at the National Film Awards for her role in “Soorarai Pottru.” Despite their occasional conversations on Instagram, Radhikka chose not to exchange notes with Aparna to maintain her own interpretation of the role.

Reflecting on her decision to watch “Soorarai Pottru,” Radhikka initially hesitated to avoid unintentional influences but eventually did so. She realized the importance of bringing her unique perspective to the character of Rani, considering the audience’s familiarity with Aparna’s portrayal. Radhikka credited Sudha Kongara for guiding her through this process.

Overall, “Sarfira” has been celebrated for its adaptation and Radhikka’s performance, supported by positive feedback from both audiences and the original film’s star.
