Naga Chaitanya, son of Nagarjuna and Lakshmi Daggubati, got engaged to actress Sobhita Dhulipala in a private ceremony in Hyderabad on August 8, 2024. The engagement was a family affair, and photos from the event quickly went viral online.

Initially, Nagarjuna announced the engagement, and later, Sobhita shared candid moments from the ceremony with a poetic caption.

Recent photos shared by Nagarjuna reveal his ex-wife, Lakshmi Daggubati, happily posing for family portraits at the engagement. Nagarjuna and Lakshmi were married from 1984 to 1990; after their separation, Nagarjuna married Amala Akkineni, and Lakshmi married Sharath Vijayaraghavan. Lakshmi attended the engagement and was seen posing with Nagarjuna, Amala, and Sobhita’s parents. Nagarjuna captioned one photo: “‘You don’t love someone because they’re perfect, you love them in spite of the fact that they’re not.’ #girizoom.”

Nagarjuna also shared a charming photo from Chaitanya and Sobhita’s engagement, featuring the family, including Nagarjuna, Amala, Chaitanya, Akhil Akkineni, and Sobhita. The photo, set against lush green banana leaves and colorful floral decorations, highlighted the traditional theme of the event.

On August 9, 2024, Sobhita posted engagement photos on Instagram with a poetic caption from a Tamil poem, Kurunthogai, translated by A.K. Ramanujan. The photos showcased traditional decorations like lotus strings and mogra garlands, and captured the couple embracing on a swing. Sobhita’s caption read: “What could my mother be to yours? What kin is my father to yours anyway? And how did you and I meet ever? But in love our hearts are as red earth and pouring rain: mingled beyond parting.”

For the engagement, Sobhita wore a traditional saree from Manish Malhotra, featuring fabric from Andhra Pradesh, paired with gold jewelry and subtle makeup. Chaitanya donned a classic Pattu pancha, laalchi, and kanduva, traditional attire from Andhra Pradesh.
