Renowned designer Manish Malhotra has lauded veteran actress Rekha, referring to her as an “original style maker” for her impact on fashion in films and public appearances.
On October 10, Malhotra celebrated Rekha’s 70th birthday with an Instagram post featuring several images of them together, highlighting her regal presence in a gold saree and signature red lipstick.
In his caption, he expressed his admiration, calling her “The One And Only REKHAJI” and praising her beauty, talent, and warmth, while extending heartfelt birthday wishes.
Malhotra shared his honor in knowing and working closely with Rekha, noting her fabulous expressions, performances, and an extensive filmography that reflects her immense talent.
Rekha, celebrated as one of India’s greatest actresses, has appeared in over 180 films, starting her career with a leading role in the Kannada film “Operation Jackpot Nalli C.I.D 999” in 1969, followed by her Hindi debut in “Sawan Bhadon” a year later.
Her landmark performances in 1978’s “Ghar” and “Muqaddar Ka Sikandar” marked the start of a highly successful phase in her career, leading to notable films like “Khubsoorat,” “Baseraa,” and “Umrao Jaan.”
In 1996, Rekha took on a different role as an underworld don in “Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi,” followed by critically acclaimed projects like “Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love” and “Aastha: In the Prison of Spring,” which also attracted some public scrutiny.
In the 2000s, she appeared in films such as “Zubeidaa,” “Lajja,” “Koi… Mil Gaya,” and “Krrish,” with her last major film being “Super Nani” in 2014, which was based on a Gujarati play and featured a strong supporting cast.
