Filmmaker Kiran Rao addressed the public fascination surrounding her interactions with her ex-husband Aamir Khan’s first ex-wife, Reena Dutta, whenever they are seen together in public.
She expressed her willingness to provide insights on modern family dynamics to anyone interested, given her close bond with Reena and their amicable relationship with Aamir. Kiran and Reena share a strong friendship and proximity, with Kiran residing in the same building as Aamir and maintaining closer ties with his family than the actor himself.
Reflecting on the attention they receive, Kiran mentioned that initially, she was taken aback by the media’s interest in their outings together. However, she now views it as an opportunity to advocate for modern and inclusive family structures. She emphasized the importance of normalizing relationships post-divorce and promoting the idea that former partners can maintain friendly and familial connections.
Kiran highlighted her and Aamir’s commitment to breaking societal norms, citing their openness about using surrogacy to welcome their son, Azad. While acknowledging that their close relationship might seem unconventional to some, Kiran emphasized the genuine bond they share, shaped by their shared experiences and ongoing collaboration in both personal and professional spheres.
Currently, Kiran and Aamir are promoting their latest film, “Laapataa Ladies,” which she directed and he co-produced. Aamir was previously married to Reena from 1986 to 2002, and they share two children, Junaid and Ira.
