Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has always kept his family private, often steering clear of personal discussions in interviews.

Recently, however, at his concert in Manchester, UK, he publicly introduced his mother and sister. Diljit has previously emphasized that he avoids the spotlight for his family’s safety.

A touching moment from his concert, captured in a viral video, shows Diljit approaching an elderly woman while singing his emotional track “Haas Haas.” He serenades her with the lyrics, “Dil tenu de ditta main taan soneya, Jaan tere kadma ch rakhi hoyi ae,” and tells the audience, “This is my mom.” He affectionately lifts her hand and bows in respect, bringing tears to her eyes. The crowd cheered as they embraced, and he then introduced his sister, who stood beside their mother, enthusiastically supporting him.

In an earlier interview with Ranveer Allahabadia, Diljit, who rarely discusses his family, shared insights about his childhood. He explained that his relationship with his parents weakened when he moved in with his uncle at 11. He recalled, “At eleven, I left home to live with my mamaji. I moved to Ludhiana, leaving my village. My parents agreed without asking me.”

He described his solitary life in a small room, where he focused on school with no television or mobile phones. This isolation contributed to his growing distance from his family.

Regarding his parents, Diljit expressed, “I have deep respect for my mother. My father is very kind, but he never inquired about my life or schooling. This led to a breakdown in our connection, not just with them, but with everyone.”

Diljit Dosanjh was born in 1984 in Dosanjh Kalan. His father, Balbir Singh, worked as a bus driver, and his parents sent him to live with his uncle, Davinder Singh Sodhi, a noted raagi. It was there that Diljit began to learn music, initially accompanying his uncle on the tabla and eventually performing at local events while still in school.
