BTS’s Jin was recently named the brand ambassador for Gucci, with the announcement made on August 8. The news caused a major stir among fans, overwhelming the Gucci website and causing it to crash.
Indeed, the announcement led to such high traffic that Gucci’s Japanese site temporarily went down. This isn’t the first time Jin’s endorsement has caused a website crash; a similar incident occurred previously with FRED.
The news of the site crash quickly spread, prompting reactions from BTS’s ARMY. Many referred to it as the “Jin Impact” and advised websites to prepare for such overwhelming responses in the future.
Jin, who has frequently worn Gucci and described it as “iconic,” expressed excitement about joining the ranks of other brand ambassadors like Alia Bhatt and Dakota Johnson. He described being part of Gucci as “meaningful and thrilling.”
In addition to his Gucci role, Jin made history as the first Korean singer to be a torchbearer at the Paris Olympics 2024. He started the torch relay at the Louvre Pyramid Museum. BigHit posted a photo of Jin in white athleisure holding the torch on X, formerly Twitter.
Jin expressed his honor and gratitude for the opportunity, thanking ARMYs for their support. During the ceremony, a video of organizers playing “Super Tuna” went viral, showing Jin laughing and joining in the fun with fans cheering loudly.
The Paris Olympics 2024, which began on July 26 and will end on August 11, has seen South Korea send about 142 athletes across 21 sports, including badminton, taekwondo, archery, and fencing. The torch relay for the event started in April.
