When it comes to extravagant weddings, one event that truly stands out is the union of Brahmani Reddy, daughter of mining tycoon and former Karnataka minister G Janardhana Reddy, to Rajiv Reddy, son of Hyderabad-based businessman Vikram Deva Reddy.
This wedding, held on November 6, 2016, garnered attention for its staggering cost of approximately Rs 500 crore, making it one of India’s most lavish weddings.
Surpassing even the weddings of Mukesh Ambani’s children, Brahmani Reddy’s nuptials were a grand affair spanning five days, attended by 50,000 guests from around the globe.
Brahmani adorned herself in a splendid Kanjeevaram saree, embellished with gold threads, designed by Neeta Lulla, valued at an astounding Rs 17 crore.
Her jewelry ensemble, including a diamond choker necklace worth Rs 25 crore, along with other accessories like Panchdala and maang tikka, amounted to a total of Rs 90 crore. To ensure perfection, a makeup artist was flown in from Mumbai, supported by a team of 50 top makeup artists, at a cost of Rs 30 lakhs.
Janardhana Reddy left no stone unturned, booking 1,500 rooms in five and three-star hotels in Bangalore for his guests’ comfort, arranging transportation with 2,000 cabs and 15 helicopters. The wedding venue was transformed into a majestic replica of the Vijayanagara Empire.
The groom made a regal entrance on a chariot, while the bride’s procession included 100 cultural troops, such as Brazilian samba dancers and tribal performers.
Even the invitation cards exuded opulence, presented in blue boxes with LCD screens displaying a three-minute video invitation from the Reddy family, costing approximately Rs 5 crore.
Every member of the Reddy family, resembling royalty, adorned themselves with gold and diamond jewelry worth crores of rupees, adding to the grandeur of the occasion.
