Bollywood actress Kalki Koechlin, who was raised in India by her French parents, was previously married to filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. The two collaborated on films such as Dev.D and That Girl in Yellow Boots.
In a recent interview, Kalki revealed that after her divorce, she faced difficulties in finding a rental property in Mumbai due to her single status.
During an interview on the AfterHours show with the All About Eve YouTube channel, Kalki shared her experience, saying, “After Anurag and I divorced, those two films—Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani—were out. But even with my fame, I couldn’t find a place to live. Nobody wanted to rent me a house in Mumbai as a single woman. I was puzzled—people wanted selfies with me but wouldn’t offer me a place to stay.”
Anurag Kashyap was previously married to film editor Aarti Bajaj. After being in a relationship for nearly nine years, they married in 1997 and later divorced in 2009. They have a daughter, Aaliyah, born in 2001.
Currently, Kalki lives in Goa with her partner, Guy Hershberg, and their daughter, Sappho, who was born in 2020.
Kalki has received significant recognition for her roles in projects like Made in Heaven and the crime thriller Sacred Games. In 2023, she appeared in the English-language drama Goldfish, which premiered at the 27th Busan International Film Festival, where she starred alongside Deepti Naval.
Kalki also gained attention for her supporting role in the coming-of-age drama Kho Gaye Hum Kahan. The film follows the lives of three best friends—played by Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, and Adarsh Gourav—as they navigate aspirations, relationships, and emotions. The film’s young cast brought their vibrant energy to the streets of Mumbai, where they painted a mural symbolizing their friendship and marking the beginning of the film’s promotional campaign.
